Ingibjörg Hordal Thorsteinsdottir

Ingibjörg (Emma) Hordal Thorsteinsdottir was born in Hóll, Hörðudalur, Dalasýsla County in 1874. Her father was Þorsteinn (Thorstein) Jónsson , and her mother was Ragnhildur Jónsdóttir. In 1876, Ingibjörg came to Canada with her parents and her two siblings (Björn, and Guðrún).

The Gimli Saga wrote that "a second group, left Iceland July 2, 1876 going by steamer "Verona" to Glasgow, then by Allan Line steam "Austria" to Quebec, and on from there by rail and boat to Winnipeg, where they arrived August 8. They left for Gimli August 29. "

They settled in the Gimli area for a short time, then moved to North Dakota. Her parents farmed in the Shoal Lake area, Manitoa and later moved to Swan Lake, Manitoba.

Ingibjörg married Björn Magnusson December 31, 1899 and homesteaded in Markland (Coldwell), Manitoba until 1904 and later lived in Winnipeg for a few years. In 1935, they moved to Keewatin, Ontario. They had two children, Magnus B. Magnus and Margret Ingibjorg Ragnahildur Magnus.

Ingibjörg passed away July 6, 1960 and was laid to rest in Kenora, Ontario.
